Rian Othus has spent 20+ years in tattooing — four completed apprenticeships across four disciplines, four studios owned, fifteen more managed. Rather than build another shop, he built a facility: a structured, credentialed training program every artist at Mesa is working through. It’s why the work holds up, and why it’s hard to replicate.

Rian previously served as Vice Chair of the Oregon Health Licensing Office for Tattoo and Piercing and as Head of Education at the Alliance of Professional Tattooists. He now leads investigations and research for Better Tattooing and brings that same regulatory-grade rigor to every artist on the floor.
