Full-Day Sessions for Large-Scale Ornamental Blackwork

I set aside 6 to 7 hours to take a large, solid black ornamental piece from start to finish in one sitting. A lot of my full-day clients fly in for it.

The Full-Day Session

A full day is 6 to 7 hours in the chair. I use that time to take a large ornamental piece from concept to finished in one sitting, instead of splitting it across a few appointments.

Most of the people who book a full day with me aren’t local. They come in from Seattle, Minnesota, and New York to get the whole piece done in one visit.

The Work

Illustrative Blackwork, Built for Scale

I specialize in illustrative blackwork: solid black fields, high contrast shading, and ornamental linework that holds up whether it’s covering a forearm or wrapping a full sleeve. I’m partial to flora and fauna, but I’m always looking for new subject matter to work with.

On a full-day piece I go for full saturation in one sitting, so it heals looking close to how it looked the day I finished it instead of needing a touch-up down the line.

Traveling to Portland

If You’re Flying In for This

A lot of my full-day clients are traveling for their appointment, so I keep that in mind when I’m scheduling. The studio is private and appointment only, so there’s no walk-in traffic to work around during a long session. It’s also ADA compliant.

I’m at 1801 NW Upshur St in Slabtown, a short rideshare from PDX.

If you’re looking for a place to stay, I recommend The Paramount Hotel Portland: 808 SW Taylor St, Portland, OR 97205, (503) 223-9900, portlandparamount.com. It’s downtown and an easy rideshare to the studio.
The Artist

About Fae

My name is Fae Kennedy. I’ve been tattooing professionally for about four years. I’m a nonbinary and queer artist specializing in illustrative blackwork, mostly large-scale ornamental pieces built around flora and fauna.

Consent-based tattooing has been a huge focus in my career, and it always will be. I want every client to feel like they can ask questions, take breaks, and speak up for their own boundaries. On a session that runs 6 to 7 hours, that matters just as much as the linework does.

Full-day sessions run 6 to 7 hours. I like to book 2 to 3 months out, and a 30% deposit holds your date.

$1,200 Full Day · 6 to 7 Hours
$600 Half Day · Under 4 Hours
$300 Minimum · Smaller Pieces

Custom pieces are reserved for repeat clients (see FAQ below). A full-day slot can also be built around flash, so it’s a good option for a first appointment.
